The American Energy Alliance supports H.R. 6009 the Restoring American Energy Dominance Act. H.R. 6009 would require the Bureau of Land Management to withdraw its proposed rulemaking on fluid mineral leases and leasing processes. Under the guise of implementing legislation passed by Congress, this rulemaking seeks to further hobble oil and gas production on federal lands. The increased bond requirements and introduction of vague new criteria for leasing decisions are not congressionally authorized and represent a transparent attempt to harm domestic producers by administrative fiat. BLM should withdraw this overreaching rule and reissue a rule that sticks to implementing the legislation Congress actually passed.
