Key Vote: Yes on Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Act
Vote h41-2015

Tomorrow the House will vote on H.R. 161, the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act. This legislation would make critical reforms to the permitting process to ensure timely consideration of natural gas pipelines by the FERC.

Natural gas pipeline infrastructure is necessary to provide affordable and reliable energy to all Americans. Last winter, the lack of this infrastructure in the Northeast became a prime example for why these reforms are needed. The current infrastructure was stressed to the limit during the polar vortex. There was not sufficient capacity to provide natural gas to all of the homes, businesses, and power plants at the same time. This led to a huge spike in prices.

In addition, increasing our pipeline infrastructure will have tangible environmental benefits including reducing the flaring of natural gas in places like North Dakota that is experiencing record energy production and aiding in the replacement of aging pipelines which are more prone to leaks.

The American Energy Alliance supports H.R. 161. YES IS THE PRO-ENERGY, PRO-ENVIRONMENT, AND PRO-FREE MARKET VOTE.
